FPALA Mentorship Program!

In an effort to create more cohesion, value, and growth for our members we are thrilled to announce the continuation of our Mentorship Programming starting January 2026

It’s super straight-forward and just requires an online application submission for Mentees and a separate online application for those seasoned professionals willing to give of their time as Mentors. Applications will close on March 15, 2026. Upon completion, FPALA will match mentees to mentors and make introductions by March 23, 2026.

Note that program is not only for students or new planners. Mentorships can be used in other situations, such as those may be looking to sell or buy a practice, grow their firm by adding a partner, or simply get outside perspective on things.

How It Works:

• Annual, 6-month program.
• Membership is required for both mentors and mentees, and there is no cost to participate.
• Matching is done online through both parties submitting an application.
• Mentees are limited to one mentor at a time.
• Mentees are expected to set the agenda and drive the relationship.  Mentors just need to be responsive to their requests. 
• Once the match has been set, Mentees and Mentors are encouraged to have a discovery call to set agenda and overall expectations.  This is to help mentees get clarity on what they want/need out of their mentoring relationship.
• Mentees and mentors generally meet one time per month via phone or Zoom, although some relationships are in-person. These meetings will run for a period of 6 months, though pairings can extend beyond this time if they so choose.

·       Mentors and mentees complete an exit interview to rate their experience and the program overall.
